Sleeper coach bus from KSRTC

The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) on Friday inducted into its fleet the state-of-the-art Ambari — sleeper coach buses — in its bid to offer comfortable journey to passengers. The buses, the first sleeper services in the KSRTC stable, will initially ply between Bangalore and Chennai.
Flagging off the bus here, Transport Minister R. Ashok said the air-conditioned coaches are of international standards, similar to sleeper coaches of passenger trains.
KSRTC has placed orders for 10 of them with the Pune-based Corona Bus Manufacturers. The two coaches, delivered as the first instalment, would be deployed on the Bangalore-Chennai trunk route, the Minister said. The service to Chennai will leave Bangalore at 10.30 p.m. daily and reach Chennai at 6.15 p.m. the next day. It will touch Hosur, Krishnagiri and Vellore. The bus will leave Chennai at 10.50 p.m. and reach Bangalore at 6.15 a.m. The fare will be Rs. 590.
Procured at a cost of Rs. 44.5 lakh, Ambari has 32 passenger berths, 16 lower and 16 upper; ultra modern interiors in passenger saloons; reading lamps and imported floor carpeting and a wider emergency exit.
