Sun TV to broadcast kpl

Sun will broadcast the event on its Kannada news channel Udaya Verthegalu which will also give the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) free commercial time under the terms of the agreement.

“Sun’s Udaya brand has the most number of Kannada channels. I am confident that as time progresses the returns from the Udaya FCT will also go up,” said KSCA Secretary Brijesh Patel.

Real estate company Mantri Developers will also pay Rs 111.1 million (£1.4 million) for the five-year title sponsorship of the event, which will be known as the Mantri-KPL cup.

It is believed the KPL – which is based on the Indian Premier League (IPL) – could become a Rs 1 billion (£12.4 million)-plus property over the next five years. The KPL pulled in Rs 350 million (£4.3 million) from the sale of eight franchises earlier this month.
